Chelsea are said to be on the hunt for one more deal after securing a goalkeeper to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Chelsea are said to be left searching for a new forward after missing out on a reported target.

The Blues were said to be interested in Rennes star Jeremy Doku, but Manchester City have stepped in to all-but wrap up a deal, according to Fabrizio Romano. “Jeremy Doku to Manchester City, here we go,” wrote Romano on Twitter. “Verbal agreement in place after new bid revealed here this morning — worth €60m package.

“Medical tests being scheduled later this week, personal terms agreed on long term deal.”

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have already agreed one deal, with a goalkeeper transfer all-but sealed. A deal worth £14million has been struck with New England Revolution for Djordje Petrovic, with £12.5million being paid upfront, while another £1.5million is said to have been agreed in bonuses.

Chelsea needed a new goalkeeper after allowing Kepa Arrizbalaga to join Real Madrid. Robert Sanchez was signed to be the new number one, and Petrovic will now likely be the number two.

Chelsea have already been busy this summer, but it seems they won’t be done there. According to the same report, Mauricio Pochettino wants one more signing before the window shuts, and he is keen to sign another forward after losing Christopher Nkunku to a serious injury. With Doku off the table, it will be interesting to see where the Blues turn, with Nicolas Jackson already signed up to play the striker role.

Though, competition is important, and Chelsea have already shown some teething problems up top, struggling to take advantage of chances in the defeat to West Ham over the weekend, even if Jackson did impress with his performance overall.

Chelsea have until September 1 to find a new forward, and cash doesn’t seem to be a great concern, with the Blues continuing to sign players to long contracts, while they have also managed significant sales this summer, including Kai Havertz’ £60million departure to Arsenal, while it’s also hoped Romelu Lukaku will leave in some form before the end of the window.
