Mauricio Pochettino handed fresh Chelsea blow ahead of Arsenal after unfortunate training incident

Chelsea captain Reece James has had to take a step back and is training alone ahead of the Arsenal game.

Chelsea defender Reece Jams has reportedly suffered a relapse and is now a doubt for the game against Arsenal this weekend.

The defender last played on the opening day of the season against Liverpool but was said to be ready to play against Burnley but for his one-game suspension.

He had been training at the club's training base but has reportedly felt some pain which was dismissed by a scan, but he's still not returned to full training.

According to English journalist Nathan Gissing, James is a doubt to face the Gunners at Stamford Bridge. The Blues captain picked up a knock in training 10 days ago and has been training away from the first team.

Last season James missed a total of 23 games for the club as they limped to a disappointing 12th-placed finish in the league, their worst in the last three decades.

The English defender also missed the World Cup due to injury and there is no doubt that when fit he ranks as one of the best defenders in the game even though his availability has declined in the last two years.

Another player who is reportedly set to miss the game against Arsenal is Carney Chukwuemeka who started the season but has since been sidelined after scoring his first goal against West Ham earlier in the season.

The Blues have won their last three games in all competition and looked like they were turning the corner before the international break but the latest injury news is likely to be another setback as Mauricio Pochettino looks to return the club to competing for both domestic and continental trophies.
