Mauricio Pochettino explains why Chelsea performance against Burnley 'angered' him

Chelsea could only manage a draw against a 10-man Burnley side and Pochettino did not mince words afterwards.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says his team didn't show enough determination and energy to go on and take all three points against a 10-man Burnley side. The Blues took the lead twice and yet could only pick up a point and remain 11th on the league table.

This was a missed opportunity for Chelsea who would have gone into the top 10 of the league table, but they will now have to get a response against a Manchester United side who are looking to finish with a flourish this season.

Speaking to the press after the game, Pochettino admitted his team just didn't handle the man advantage which was concerning.

He said: "I'm sorry but I am not happy with the performance when we don't have the ball. We need to be strong also against a very physical team. We allowed them to run too much." "Sorry for my speech but it's difficult to accept not to win the game because it was a must-win game. We need to accept that and recover from the situation.

"The way we concede the first goal, they have one less. They need to realise we need to increase our work levels. It's not to blame the players, it's to blame everyone. We need to be tougher when we have the players. We need to be a team, find better communication and be more competitive. I'm angered as I think we could have done better."

Another inconsistent performance emphasised exactly why they remain in the bottom half of the table. The Blues had more than enough chances, with 33 shots their most in a Premier League game in more than 10 years.
