'It makes perfect sense': Vincent Kompany explains why Chelsea have improved lately and makes exciting claim

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has been speaking to the press ahead of the visit to Stamford Bridge.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany says it makes sense that Chelsea have lost only once in 15 home games and admits his team face a daunting task at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are desperate for all three points that will keep their hopes of at least securing Europa Conference League football next season.

They take on a Burnley side who have lost 20 games already this season and with Chelsea looking up, Kompany admitted it was only a matter of time before the Blues saw real value for the money they spent on the squad.

The Burnley manager told the press: "It's a young team, so the only guarantee you have with young players is that they will always get better. It makes perfect sense that they end up stronger than they started. It's almost a natural process that they go through and it's a team with many good prospects for the future.

The Clarets arrived in the Premier League after blowing teams away in the Championship, but after 29 games, they have only four wins to show for it and are more likely to go down. Kompany however is not giving up just yet and says this one feels like a cup final for his side.

He added: "This match feels like a cup final, but there have been several matches in recent weeks. Chelsea is a top team and that does not mean that we have nothing to lose. Every match is very important for us in terms of points."

Chelsea's only defeat in their 17 Premier League games against Burnley came at home in August 2017 (W12, D4).
