Enzo Maresca has already 'told' Chelsea chiefs his dream deadline day transfer
Chelsea are still being linked with a late move for a Premier League attacker.
Enzo Maresca is said to have already decided on his ideal transfer for Monday’s deadline day. The Blues have it tougher than most head into Monday’s deadline day action, facing West Ham on the same evening as the window slams shut.
That means the Blues will have to do much of their work in the daylight hours and make a solid game plan that will allow the club chiefs to operate without Maresca’s input as he spends much of the night concentrating on matters on the pitch.
Most of Chelsea’s business this month has and will involve exits, with a handful of players expected to leave the club ahead of the deadline, but the Blues could also secure an incoming if the chips fall in the right place. An attacker seems to be the priority, but it would need to be the right kind of deal for Chelsea to make a move, at least unless there is a high-profile, high-fee exit like Christopher Nkunku.
According to GiveMeSport, Maresca has already told Chelsea chiefs the transfer he would like to see completed before the window shuts. It’s claimed Maresca wants the club to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, who has been heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge switch this month.
It’s claimed United want £80million to sell the 20-year-old to a Premier League rival, and that remains the main obstacle to a deal, given the Blues have shown they are unwilling to spend that kind of money even on a striker of Victor Osimhen’s quality in recent months.
Napoli appear to have dropped out of the race to sign Garnacho, while Tottenham have been linked, but they are unlikely to pay anywhere near that amount, and a loan deal looks very unlikely.
Asked about Garnacho’s future this week, United boss Ruben Amorim said: "I'm happy to have Garnacho here. He's improving a lot. He's a young talented guy. You want to work with these guys with talent.
“That's what drives the coaches to improve the team; to have these kind of players that you know they are going to improve a lot. In football, especially when we are in these situations, sometimes it's hard, but I don't want to focus on that. I'm really happy to have Garnacho playing tomorrow."
