Chelsea confirm latest injury boost with six set to miss Wolves match

The Blues have provided an injury update ahead of their game against Wolves this weekend.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says midfielder Romeo Lavia could make his debut for the club this weekend after returning to full first-team training for the first time since September this week.

Lavia joined Chelsea from Southampton in the summer for a reported £58million, turning down the chance to join Liverpool who were also keen on signing him. He arrived at the club nursing an ankle injury but suffered a setback during his recovery that has prolonged his return to the team.

Ahead of the game against Wolves this weekend, Pochettino confirmed the midfielder is almost ready and could make his debut at Molineux Stadium.

He said: "He is back in training just like Nkunku but we have to be realistic because it's about competition like all the other players because this is serious business.

"I know the fans want him but we all have to understand that there are players who have been competing for the last six months so yeah he can be involved but involved in which capacity and what level and all that.

"When people are frustrated I'm the first to be frustrated because I'm the manager and it's me who suffers when the team doesn't perform and it's me who wants the players but we have to be fair to everyone and make sure that players are ready and they earned it.

Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana, Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella, Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah are all definitely ruled out for the weekend, but midfielder Enzo Fernandez - who was forced off against Newcastle in midweek - faces a late fitness test.
