Chelsea injury update: Reece James, Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez news and return dates

Chelsea lost Enzo Fernandez to illness in their Carabao Cup win against Newcastle.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has a host of players out through injury ahead of their weekend Premier League game against Wolves this weekend. Latest to join the list is Enzo Fernandez who lasted only 30 minutes in their win against Newcastle due to suddenly falling sick.

There is still no definite decision on the best way to treat captain Reece James' hamstring injury with the club willing to give him time to settle before deciding if surgery is the best way to get it done once and for all.

Spanish left back Marc Cucurella is also not expected back to the field this year after twisting his ankle at Goodison Park. He's already undergone surgery to try and get back as soon as possible. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was also at Stamford Bridge last night and showed little signs of pain as he walked through the mixed zone with a smile. He is set to miss this weekend's game but did hint that his injury was only short-term and he could return in a couple of weeks.

Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah are all still out and working with the medical team and will miss the trip to the Molineux Stadium this weekend.

There was however a boos for the Blues last night, with French forward Christopher Nkunku making his long-awaited debut for the club, as he confidently scored his penalty to help Chelsea to a 4-2 win and seal progression to the semi-final of the League Cup

So with Nkunku now back to full fitness, here is the list of those still looking to return and when they could potentially be back.
