Chelsea are poised to offer a new deal to Conor Gallagher. The 22-year-old was wanted by Crystal Palace this winter but ended up staying put at Stamford Bridge beyond the deadline.

The Sun claim the England international will be offered fresh terms in a bid to tie him down for longer. Fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United and Everton were also said to be keen on him in the last transfer window.

Crystal Palace know all about him after his impressive loan spell at Selhurst Park in the last campaign. However, Patrick Viera’s side weren’t able to re-sign him and went for Naouirou Ahamada and Albert Sambi Lokonga instead on deadline day last week.

Gallagher, 22, started for Chelsea alongside new signing Enzo Fernandez in midfield in their game last Friday against Fulham. The Blues were left frustrated as they drew 0-0.

He has been on the books of the London club for his whole career to date and has also had loan spells away in the past at Charlton Athletic, West Brom and Swansea City. The Epsom-born man’s current contract expires in the summer of 2025.

In other news, reporter Fabrizio Romano has cooled talks of a Barcelona move back in for Chelsea striker but suggests he will leave this year. He has told CaughtOffside: “It was impossible for Barcelona to proceed due to FIFA rules, they like the player but nothing else because of official rules,” Romano explained. I think Aubameyang will 100% leave Chelsea in 2023, the plan is clear.”
