United will be without Scott McTominay, long-term absentee Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen, who has been ruled out for a few months at least with an ankle injury. That forced Erik ten Hag to delve into the transfer market on deadline day to land Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich and he is in line to make his debut against Crystal Palace.

Full-back Diogo Dalot remains a doubt with ex-Eagles man Aaron Wan-Bissaka slotting in for him over recent weeks. Goalkeeper Jack Butland can’t feature against his parent club.

As for Patrick Viera’s side, Wilfried Zaha can’t play against his former team and is out with a hamstring injury and he has joined midfielder James McArthur and defender Nathan Ferguson in the treatment room. Crystal Palace will assess centre-back Joachim Andersen, with Chris Richards doing an impressive job in his place in the past couple of matches.

New signings Naouirou Ahamada and Albert Sambi Lokonga are available to play. It remains to be seen whether they will be thrown straight in from the start or on the bench.

OUT: McTominay (Man U), Van de Beek (Man U), Eriksen (United), Butland (Man U), McArthur (Palace), Ferguson (Palace), Zaha (Palace)

DOUBTS: Dalot (United), Andersen (Palace)
