Sweden will be represented by Chelsea super fan and one half of Marcus & Martinus, Martinus Gunnarsen at this year's Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmo.

It's fair to say that the footballing world and popular musical event don't overlap all too often, but Blues supporters will have an interest in this year's edition with the representative from Sweden and outspoken Chelsea lover. Marcus & Martinus triumphed in Sweden's Melodifestivalen 2024 contest on Saturday night with their song 'Unforgettable' cruising to victory in Stockholm.

The duo entered the selection competition last year, but were beaten by eventual Eurovision winner Loreen with 'Tattoo'. Eurovision 2024 will return to Sweden this year and be held in Malmo, where all eyes will be on Marcus & Martinus.

The duo are Norwegian but there has never been a Eurovision rule stipulating that representatives must be born in the nation. Marcus & Martinus reason that their music careers are centred in Stockholm and their track is written by Swedes. They also won the Swedish version of The Masked Singer last year.

The duo regularly turn out for Norwegian third division side Mosjøen IL and are pals with Tottenham Hotspur's new Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall - the group filmed football challenges together recently before Marcus & Martinus celebrated their Melodifestivalen win by watching the star play for Djurgårdens on Sunday.

Martinus spoke with LondonWorld last year about his love for Chelsea and how it all started. He said: "When I was little I was in Thailand with my family we were in a store and saw a Chelsea shirt. My favourite colour was blue and I loved the shirt!

"My dad told me about the player who was on the back of the shirt, Didier Drogba, and I immediately fell in love with the club and the player!

"My favourite memory of supporting Chelsea is when we won the Champions League final against Bayern Munich and against Manchester City. Those were the proudest moments for me to be a Chelsea supporter and I loved it."

The other half of the duo, who are twins, is Manchester United loving Marcus. Ahead of the current Premier League campaign, Martinus reasoned: "Of course, it can get annoying when Manchester United are good, but I think it’s a good thing! I love competition and I think Chelsea will be better than United this season!"
