Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell picked up a hamstring injury in the win. against Bournemouth over the weekend.

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell was forced off in their 3-1 win against Bournemouth and now faces a race against time to be fit for the remaining games of the season.

Chilwell has been one of the shining stars of a season that began with promise, but is ending with a whimper with Chelsea sitting out the top half of the Premier League table.

The Blues however did manage to record their first league win since Frank Lampard returned but the joy of the victory has been slightly rocked by the injury to Chiwell who also had to miss last year’s World Cup due to injury.

Lampard admitted he was concerned especially given the number of games left and the time of recovery.

He told reporters: “Hamstring. We don’t know [if it’s serious]. But with a hamstring at this stage of the season, it will clearly be a worry for the remaining games.”

Chelsea's next game will be at home to Nottingham Forest with the Blues being favourites to take all three points even though games have not been straightforward at the Bridge for a while.

The injury blow to Chilwell is the latest with fellow full-back Reece James ruled out of the season with a similar issue and Mason Mount also struggling for fitness and likely to have played his last game for them this season.

The Chelsea board are still in the hunt for a permanent manager since the sacking of Graham Potter with strong reports claiming they could be set to appoint former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as their boss.
