Chelsea have emerged as a potential next destination for PSG and Argentina starlet Lionel Messi. The 35-year-old is expected to move on for a new challenge this summer.

According to Football London, the Blues are ‘thought to be keen’ on signing the attacker at the end of this season. However, there will be plenty of competition for his signature with other clubs such as Barcelona, Inter Miami and Al-Hilal mentioned as other potential suitors in the report.

Chelsea have endured a disastrous campaign in the Premier League this term and find themselves down in 12th place having accumulated only 39 points from their 33 games so far. They need to find a new manager and then bolster their ranks significantly in the next transfer window.

Messi’s possible availability will no doubt alert the attention of plenty of clubs across the globe and the Blues certainly have the financial means to try and persuade him to move to London. His affiliation to Barcelona may be too strong to ignore for him though.

He spent 21 years at Camp Nou after they snapped him up as a youngster from Newell’s Old Boys. The 2022 World Cup winner went on to make 778 appearances in all competitions and chipped in with a whopping 672 goals along the way.

PSG then landed him in an eye-catching deal back in 2021 and he has since fired in 31 goals in 71 matches for the Ligue 1 giants. However, his long-term situation in the French capital is up in the air right now and an exit seems a distinct possibility soon.

Messi has a big decision on what to do next. He has already achieved his objective of winning the World Cup and a new chapter awaits with Chelsea believed to be interested in getting him.
