Chelsea fans applaud striker Romelu Lukaku for reaching rare goalscoring milestone

Chelsea fans took to Twitter to celebrate striker Romelu Lukaku scoring on his 100th cap for Belgium.

The 28-year-old could only manage 17 goals in his first 50 game for his country, but has bagged an astonishing 50 goals in his last 50 games.

He opened the scoring in their 3-0 victory over Czech Republic on Sunday.

Lukaku now joins fellow internationals Jan Vertonghan (132), Axel Witsel (116), Toby Alderweireld (115), Eden Hazard (113) and Dries Mertens (102) as the only players to have reached a century of caps for their country.

The Chelsea star is also Belgium’s all-time top scorer in history with 67 goals.

Last season, in club football he scored 24 and assisted 11 to help Inter Milan to their first league title in a decade.

His return to Stamford Bridge has sparked hope of Chelsea winning the league title this season.
