'Difficult' - Mauricio Pochettino provides fresh update on 23-year-old's Chelsea contract situation

Conor Gallagher has just 18 months left on his current contract and has been linked with Spurs recently.

Mauricio Pochettino says he won't be personally involved in contract talks with Conor Gallagher — but describes his contribution to Chelsea this season as 'fantastic'.

Gallagher, 23, has missed only one league game all season and has assisted more goals than expensive summer signings Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo combined.

His energy and commitment has made him one of the first names on the team sheet and his manager - who has repeatedly labelled Gallagher a key player for the club - says he'll leave contract talks to those above him.

Pochettino said: "I have talked before, this type of situation is between the club and player and it is difficult for any coach and team to talk.

"The decision of the club and player(Gallagher). What I am doing to coach the team is trying to make the best choice to try to perform. He is doing well, fantastic for the team and playing because he deserves it. Always talking about the future is the player and club and trying to see what they are going to do."

The Chelsea boss also confirmed the Blues will go into games against Wolves, Crystal Palace and Luton looking to take maximum points. He added: "Yes, we only want to think on the 24th. The Wolves game will be tough. We saw many games where it is tough to play there. It will be a challenge. Our objective is to win the game then think three days after Palace then after Luton. Massive for us to help our position."

Wolves could have Pedro Neto back after almost two months out with a hamstring injury, while Nelson Semedo has recovered from illness in time for the game on Sunday for Gary O'Neil's team.
