Chelsea are increasingly confident of sealing their second signing of the summer transfer window with personal terms already agreed with Villareal forward Nicholas Jackson. The Villareal forward is on stand bye to fly into London for his medical and complete his signing with the Blues.

Chelsea have been put in a strong financial position and have moved from the red zone of FFP after a squad overhaul that will see the likes of Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Hakim Ziyech leaving the club this summer.

Midfielders Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante are also on their way out, freeing up space and funds for new players with the Blues already confirming the signing of French forward Christopher Nkunku from German side RB Leipzig.

According to a report on the Evening Standard, Chelsea will trigger his release clause but are looking at the best possible way of spreading the cost over a period of time.

The Premier League also have the situation of want-away striker Romelu Lukaku to deal with with the player determined to leave west London this summer.

The balancing of the books will be key with players like Mason Mount also widely reported to be looking for a way out while Kai Havertz has given his permission for a deal to be made with Arsenal.

Last season, scoring goals was a major problem for the Blues, and the signing of Nkunku and the highly promising Jackson is expected to generate competition that is normally required at a club like Chelsea.
