Chelsea have confirmed the signing of a Brazilian whizkid and are expected to announce the signing of a goalkeeper in the coming days.

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Brazilian striker Deivid Washington ahead of the PremierLeague game against Luton Town.

The £17.2million signing from Santos becomes Mauricio Pochettino’s ninth signing of a busy summer that has seen 12 first team players sold. The 18-year-old told the club’s website: “I’m very happy to be joining a huge team like Chelsea.

“I can’t wait to make my debut here at such a big club, and provide lots of goals and assists.”

Chelsea are in search of striker especially now that Christopher Nkunku is injured and looking like he’ll be out until Christmas. Armando Broja is making progress on his return.

However, it remains unclear if he will receive the work permit that will allow him to work join the first team straight away. The Blues are also expected to the announce the signing of Djordje Petrovic as they look to give competition to Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea will take on Luton on Friday night and the new signings is expected to in the stands even though manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed recording Moises Caicedo is ready to start after coming the bench against West Ham.

He said: “Moises is ready to start. Lavia no. He is still, after they assessed him, he needs a few weeks to be ready to be involved with the team” Pochettino said.

“He is reconditioning now and working to try to catch the team and the teammates. For Romeo we need to wait a few weeks until he is involved with the team.”

The Blues have spent almost £1billion since the new owners took over and will be desperate to get their first league win under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
