The now Nottingham Forest man is one of the best players to have ever come from Cobham.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is making great strides at Nottingham Forest and admits that leaving Chelsea was not an easy decision, but it was one he had to make to ensure progression in his career.

Chelsea has a history of letting promising players go before they become absolute superstars, like Kevin De Bruyne, who played there but left before gaining recognition. Mohamed Salah is another example, as well as Lewis Hall, who is now at Newcastle and could yet become an absolute superstar.

However, Odoi says his situation is different, as he had to reorganize himself elsewhere for his own good.

He told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview:"I got the opportunities at Chelsea and played a lot of games. But I got to the point where I had to look at it and realize it had been nice, but it was time to go. It was a big decision but the right one."You have to recognize when it is the right time to move on. And that was my time. A case of needing to get out of there—not in a bad way—but to go and find my football again and enjoy myself again."

Nottingham Forest's unbeaten start

It’s been a really good start for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who have won two and drawn three of their first five league games of the campaign, with Odoi being a key member of the squad.

The 23-year-old has already played 369 minutes this season, but his brightest moment came at Anfield, where he curled in one of the most brilliant finishes you will ever see from an away team. It helped condemn Liverpool to their first defeat of the season and secured a massive three points for Forest.

In a few days' time, they will be heading to Stamford Bridge, and Callum, who scored and celebrated against Chelsea last season, hopes the fans will applaud him rather than boo him.

"I hope they recognize and maybe applaud me or something," he said.
