'Deal agreed': Leyton Orient land Championship coup as Charlton Athletic deal Wycombe Wanderers transfer blow

Charlton Athletic suffered a first League One defeat since the start of December with a 4-2 defeat to Rotherham United at the weekend, the Millers moving level on points with the London outfit.
Meanwhile, Leyton Orient played out a goalless draw with Peterborough United having booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a win over Derby County last week. The visit of Premier League Champions Manchester City is next up for Richie Wellens in that domestic competition.

Charlton Athletic progressing with Lloyd Jones contract talks
Charlton Athletic talks with defender Lloyd Jones over a new contract are 'progressing positively' amid reported transfer interest from League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers.
That's according to the South London Press, with the outlet claiming that a switch to the Chairboys is unlikely for the 29-year-old. Jones' current deal at The Valley is set to expire in June, which is believed to have piqued the interest of second-placed Wycombe.
The player has made 17 starts under Nathan Jones this season and is a linchpin at the heart of defence. Jones has played 56 times for Charlton Athletic since joining in 2023 from Cambridge United.

“I signed him for Luton and working with him. He was a lot younger than he is now and we had two real excellent, experienced, serial promotion-winning centre-halves in our team at the time. So I’ve got a chance to work with him again.
“He’s really found a home in everything here now. So, look, we want to make it a longer-term home for him. That’s ongoing.”

Hide AdTransfer specialist Pete O'Rourke claims that the deal will be unveiled in the next 24 hours. Taking to social media platform X on Monday, he wrote: "Swansea midfielder Azeem Abdulai has agreed a move to Leyton Orient. Abdulai is set to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with Orient and the move is expected to be confirmed in the next 24 hours."
Abdulai made his professional debut with the Swans in 2022 having spent time in the youth academy at Celtic and Leicester City. He's gone on to play 31 times for the Welsh outfit, with 20 of those outings coming this season.
However, the 22-year-old has largely been limited to minutes from the bench this term, scoring his only league goal of the season against Preston North End in August. He's set to work under Richie Wellens with Leyton Orient eighth in the league table after 25 fixtures, three points off the play-off places.
