The Bees have been one of the success stories of last season and their signing of the international superstar was one example of their clever moves in the transfer market, that have helped them stay up.

Thomas Frank’s side were in a terrible run of form when they signed Eriksen, however the ex-Tottenham ace turned their season around and helped the west London outfit comfortably avoid the drop.

The only problem now is that the club will have wished they had offered him a long-term contract when no one was willing to take a chance on him, after his cardiac arrest on the pitch during the Euros.

Brentford have made their move by ripping up their pay structure and offering Eriksen a bumper deal, the biggest they have ever offered a player and now they are waiting for his response.

But the problem for Brentford is that there are clubs who can offer better money and bigger competitions.

Antonio Conte wants to reunite Eriksen with Tottenham and the Champions League, while Everton can offer more money and a prominent role to herald a rebuild.

The Manchester United interest

Manchester United are in the middle of a massive rebuild, with the club set to go on a different tangent when it comes to player recruitment and style of play after being underwhelming in the last few years.

Christian Eriksen is regarded as one of the best distributors in the game, and his experience of playing in the Premier League is worth gold to the teams looking at him at the moment.

The Dane spent some time at Ajax, training with his former team during his rehabilitation and recovery from the cardiac arrest.

During that time, he often spent his breaks talking to the now Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and both have been in contact since.

The Dutchman is renowned for his pressing and the attacking brand of football he brought to an Ajax side who punched above their weight in Europe, reaching the Champions League semi finals in 2019.

Ten Hag and Eriksen share ideas of how the game should be played, which could sway the Dane to Old Trafford.

Brentford to still go on even if he decides against signing

The Bees enjoyed a largely impressive first season in the Premier League and there can be no denying the addition of Eriksen lifted a side that had previously played eight games without a win.

Despite this, Thomas Frank’s side’s start to the season was one of the best for a newly promoted side.

There is enough quality and knowledge in the team and if they can continue to bring in players who fit their style and keep the likes of Ivan Toney, they are more than capable of going on and having another special season.

Eriksen will be great to have, but he will not determine how well their season will go if they get the summer transfer activities right.
