Former Brentford youngster Julien Carre has been snapped up by Peterhead on a free transfer. The midfielder has decided to make the move up to Scotland as he looks to kick-start his senior career.

The Frenchman cut ties with the Bees last year following the end of the 2020/21 campaign and has since been without a club. He has been weighing up his next move in the game and will now be playing his football in the Scottish League One.

Carre, 21, spent two years on the books at the Gtech Community Stadium and was a regular for the B team. However, his contract expired at the end of June 2021 and the club decided not to extend his stay.

Peterhead is his home now and their boss Jim McInally has told their official club website:

“Julien was the player I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that was in training with us and looked impressive. We were keen to get him on board then and we have now agreed a short-term contract.”

“Getting Julien just now is good timing as we have a few extra injuries following Wednesday’s night’s game at FC Edinburgh but to be honest I would have been signing him anyway as he adds further quality to our squad.”

Prior to his move to Brentford back in 2019, Carre rose up through the youth ranks at Angers in his native France before having a spell at Brighton and Hove Albion. He will now be looking to show what he can do up in Scotland and joins a Peterhead side who are bottom of their league right now.
