Ben Hockenhull, who parted company with Brentford over the summer, has completed a new move to Warrington Rylands. The non-league side have announced his arrival on loan from Tranmere Rovers.

The centre-back, who is 20-years-old, spent two years on the books of the Bees before he was given the green light to head out the exit door at the start of July. He will now be looking to get plenty of game time under his belt this winter.

Brentford swooped to sign the defender in 2020 after he rose up through the youth ranks at Manchester United and he was a regular for their B team over the past couple of years, having previously played 21 times for the Red Devils’ U18s. He never made a senior appearance for Thomas Frank’s side though and returned up north three months ago.

Tranmere brought him in on a two-year deal but he has played only once for the League Two club so far this term in the Papa John’s Trophy. After his switch to Prenton Park, Hockenhull said: “I’m buzzing to be here. I’ve seen in the past how young players have developed here and improved so I want to do the same. I want to keep building and become a better player. I’m a ball playing centre half and I want to play in front of big crowds which is something I feel I can do here. I’m looking forward to it.”

Hockenhull will now be looking to boost his development with Warrington Rylands in the Northern Premier. His former club Brentford were beaten 4-0 away at Aston Villa yesterday.
