Brentford are reportedly not pursuing a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence, despite talk that they have made a loan bid to sign him. The Bees are well stocked up with options in his position.

According to The Athletic, Thomas Frank’s side are ‘not interested’ in bringing him to the Gtech Community Stadium before the end of the January transfer window. They currently have Aaron Hickey and Mads Roerslev at their disposal.

Brentford have made just the one signing so far this month and that was attacker Kevin Schade from Eintracht Frankfurt. They are being patient with their recruitment and aren’t rushing into any deals.

The fact they are not pursuing Spence could open the door for other suitors to swoop in now. Fellow Premier League pair Southampton and Leicester City are said to be keen along with French club Lyon, as per the Evening Standard.

Spurs landed Spence last summer from Middlesbrough after he helped Nottingham Forest gain promotion from the Championship during his loan spell last term. However, he has struggled for game time under Antonio Conte.

In other Brentford news, Paris Maghoma made his debut for MK Dons earlier this week as they lost 1-0 to Shrewsbury Town. He is spending the rest of this campaign on loan in League One.
