Latest news on the transfer front regarding Brentford emerges

Brentford are reportedly keen on a summer swoop for Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. The Bees are being linked with a new stopper ahead of the next transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Thomas Frank’s side are ‘plotting’ a move for the Slovakia international. Fellow Premier League side Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest.

Brentford could see the experienced ‘keeper as a replacement for David Raya with his long-term future up in the air. Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the Spaniard.

Dubravka, 34, spent the first-half of the season on loan at Manchester United and provided back-up to David de Gea at Old Trafford. He made two cup appearances for the Red Devils before heading back to his parent club earlier this winter.

Newcastle landed him back in 2017 on an initial loan deal from Sparta Prague before making his transfer later on. He has since played 132 games for the Toon Army but has fallen out of favour under Eddie Howe now and is expected to move on.

Brentford need to start thinking about potential goalkeeping additions with Raya still yet to commit his future at the Gtech Community Stadium. Frank’s side have a free weekend coming up.
