Brentford’s win means Watford are still looking over their shoulders with just 13 points from 16 games and the Hornets placed 17th on the league table.

Thomas Frank’s side are enjoying a brilliant first season in the Premier League and any break will halt their momentum with news that some Manchester United players tested positive to Covid-19 after their 1-0 win over Norwich.

No names have been mentioned with regards to those who tested positive but it has been confirmed that all Manchester United players tested negative ahead of their Norwich over the weekend.

This will also come as a disruption to United themselves who are enjoying an unbeaten start to life under new manager Ralf Rangnick.

Aston Villa also had one positive Covid case on Sunday, which meant that an indoor recovery session was cancelled as a precaution rather than have members of the squad recovering inside the training complex at Bodymoor Heath.

Fellow Premier League side Tottenham have had games against Rennes in the Europa Conference league and Brighton in the Premier League cancelled following an outbreak of the ultra transmissible Omicron virus at their Enfield training base in North London.

London is gradually turning into the hotspot of the new variant with experts claiming tougher restrictions must be applied to stop the spread in the coming weeks.

The Premier League has issued a directive that Covid vaccine passes, negative tests within the last 48 hours and or exemption badges will be required to get through Premier League games.
