Arsenal are open to cashing in on £65million man Kai Havertz this summer, according to reports. Spanish outlet Fichajes has claimed the Gunners are “running out of patience” with Havertz, who arrived from Chelsea less than a year ago. A lot has been made about whether the German suits Mikel Arteta’s style - with questions also lingering about his best position.

At Chelsea, Havertz played as a number nine and famously bagged the winner in the 2021 Champions League final. But he failed to replicate that goalscoring streak regularly and was shipped across North London last summer.

Arsenal have deployed the 24-year-old on the left of a midfield three - to mixed success. Five goals in 33 games across all competitions has hardly justified the price tag but recent performances have improved.

Arteta acknowledged just weeks ago that Havertz’s confidence was “growing” following a testing start to Emirates life. He said: “His confidence is growing and he feels more secure on that field. Overall, though, taking that apart, the performances that he shows on the pitch and his aggression, is top. (They are) really good.”

But the report from Fichajes has contradicted those suggestions - going as far as to note Havertz’s days being numbered. European powerhouses Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are two clubs that have been linked with the Gunners star. Any exit would likely result in Arsenal demanding the bulk of the £65 million splashed out in June. He has four-and-a-half years remaining on his contract - meaning they are in no desperate position to sell.
