The Premier League have apologised to supporters over the day in the announcement of their television fixtures for January.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham fans have all been impacted by the selections, which are usually announced significantly earlier. Fans already knew their fixtures could be moved, but there has been no infortmation on the new dates until now. A number of games, including the second North London Derby of the season, were left without a date in time, restricting away supports from booking travel and accomodation.

Travel by train, in particular, is significantly cheaper when booked in advance, and fans miss out when the Premier League and broadcasters delay in their announcements. It has happened a couple of times already this season, leading to criticism from supporters’ clubs and the likes.

Upon the announcement of the January TV fixtures, the Premier League have issued an apology to fans, citing ‘approval’ issues in relation to ‘local stakeholders’.

Here is the apology and the January TV selections in full.

“The Premier League fixtures that have been selected for live television broadcast in the United Kingdom in January 2023 have been released.

“The Premier League apologises to supporters for the delay in announcing these fixtures and understands their frustrations. Finalising these particular selections took longer than expected due to difficulties obtaining relevant local stakeholder approvals.
