A look at some of the latest Liverpool team news as they prepare to face Arsenal this weekend in the Premier League

Liverpool will welcome back Virgil van Dijk for their game against Arsenal at Anfield in the Premier League this weekend. The defender sat out of the Reds’ trip to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening as they drew 0-0 with the Blues but is available to return now.

Jurgen Klopp’s side could also throw midfielder Thiago back into the squad against the Gunners. He has been out of action over recent times with a hip injury but has returned to training now.

Elsewhere, winger Luis Diaz has returned to training but may not be risked against Arsenal. The Colombia international has been sidelined since October with a knee problem and the Merseyside outfit will slowly ease him back in.

Klopp has said: “Virgil, completely normal, was back in training. Luis and Thiago training completely normal.

“The plan with Luis is that he will be available 100 per cent for Leeds. Again, it looks good, everything is fine, but it was a long, long injury and so we have to be careful. We will probably not involve him for Sunday.

“Thiago looks slightly different. He was not out that long, trained now three, four times with the team and might be available. But we have to check how he feels today.”

Arsenal remain eight points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table. They have some big games coming up and will be under no illusion as to how tough of a test their trip to Liverpool will be on Sunday.

Although it has been a poor season by Klopp’s standards, his side still have threats all over the pitch. It is also worth noting they thumped seven past Manchester United on their own patch last month so the Gunners will have to be at their best to pick up another win.
