Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, pundit Danny Murphy believes Arsenal shouldn’t panic after two games without a win now. The table toppers lost to Everton last weekend and drew 1-1 at home to Brentford on Saturday.

The Gunners took the lead in the second-half through January signing Leandro Trossard. However, the Bees went up the other end and equalised after a controversial Ivan Toney goal.

Arsenal remain top of the Premier League but have Manchester City breathing down their neck in 2nd. The two teams play eachother on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium.

Murphy has said: “I wouldn’t panic yet if I was an Arsenal player or fan. I think they need to stick to what they have been doing. They have set such wonderfully high standards.

“There was inevitably going to be a little spell where they didn’t keep winning every game. In many ways this next game coming (against Manchester City) is a perfect tonic because they know they are going to be up for it, the fans are going to be up for it, it is at home. It is a chance for them to stamp their authority.”

Alan Shearer also added: “They have been so good all season. It was going to happen (not win every game). It is about how they handle it. I think the next game is an ideal game for them.”

Arsenal are six points ahead of City but that gap could be shortened to three if Pep Guadioula’s side beat Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Mikel Arteta’s men will be frustrated that they didn’t pick up all three points but Brentford again proved they mean business this term under Thomas Frank.
