Arsenal could be set to make a fresh bid for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, according to 90min. The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Belgian since it was confirmed he had turned down a new contract with the Foxes.

Tielemans has been a key part of Leicester’s success in recent seasons since his move from Monaco in 2019 and is now keen for a fresh start as he enters the final six months of his deal. While a number of clubs have previously been linked with the midfielder, it is Arsenal that could make a move for him over the next couple of days.

The report claims that Leicester are desperate to keep hold of Tielemans this month and would only part ways with the 25-year-old if a ‘huge’ bid was made as he is likely to play an important role in avoiding relegation this season. However, the Foxes could be tempted to cash in rather than allow him to leave for nothing this summer.

Tielemans could also make life very difficult for Leicester if they refuse him his move before the deadline, however he has previously spoken on his potential departure and has been very respectful of the club that welcomed him to the Premier League.

Speaking in September, Tielemans said: “I’m not going to speak too much about my contract situation at the moment. My family is very happy there, and that’s important.

“I didn’t leave in the summer as I always said the project had to be the right one. Just because things are getting worse now at Leicester doesn’t mean I should regret. Whether you are in your last contract year or not, it’s also not the case that I talk to the club every day about my extension or not. That is work for my agent. In the end, I will decide. There was talk of different clubs, but I won’t go into that.”

Arsenal’s pursuit of Tielemans is likely to take a backseat behind their interest in Moises Caicedo however, with Brighton rejecting their second bid for the Ecuadorian yesterday. The Seagulls have made it clear that Caicedo is not for sale this month.
