Omar Rekik will spend the rest of the season on loan at Championship side Wigan Athletic, LondonWorld understands.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Dutch outfit Sparta Rotterdam but Arsenal decided to terminate the deal due to a lack playing time for the Tunisia international.

Rekik played just six times for Sparta since joining last summer and struggled to break into Maurice Steijn’s starting line-up.

He will undergo a medical on Monday afternoon before putting pen-to-paper on a five month loan deal which Arsenal view as the next stage in Rekik’s development, with fellow Arsenal youngster Miguel Azeez also currently on loan at the Latics.

Former Arsenal defender Kolo Toure was sacked by bottom-of-the-league Wigan last week after just 58 days in charge of the club, being replaced by Shaun Maloney.

Meanwhile, Marquinhos will spend the second half of the season on loan at Norwich City.

The 19-year-old winger has made six appearances since signing from Sao Paulo and will look to help secure the Canaries a place in the Championship play-offs.
