Chris Wheatley’s Arsenal player ratings gallery as three score 6/10 and two 5/10s in Man City loss
Chris Wheatley rates the Arsenal players after their defeat to Manchester City on Friday night in the FA Cup
Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Friday night.
Mikel Arteta made six changes to the team which beat Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, the most notable being Matt Turner starting in goal and Kieran Tierney coming in for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Gunners had chances to win the game in the first half with Takehiro Tomiyasu coming close and Eddie Nketiah almost getting on the end of Leandro Trossard's cross.
City, who had opportunities of their own through star striker Erling Haaland, opened the scoring when Nathan Ake curled an effort past Turner after neat work from Jack Grealish.
William Saliba, Sambi Lokonga, Gabriel Martinelli and Zinchenko were introduced from the bench in the second half but failed to make the desired impact as Arsenal's FA Cup campaign came to an end.
It was only the fourth defeat of the season for the Premier League leaders who return to action against relegation-threatened Everton on Saturday.
