Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have been three of the most active clubs in the summer transfer window - bringing in a total of 21 new signings between them.

The Gunners have arguably brought in an improved replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Gabriel Jesus, however will have been disappointed to see their former striker move to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Spurs have splashed the cash on the likes of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence.

While last night’s deadline brought the transfer window to a close, there are still a number of big names that are free agents and can be signed at any point this season.

We take a look at some of the players the London clubs could target...

Jason Denayer

Jason Denayer is a free agent after his contract expired with Lyon and has already been linked with a number of Premier League clubs.

The centre-back may not be at the highest of standards but has Premier League experience under his belt from his time with Manchester City and Sunderland and has also made over 30 appearances in Europe.

Denayer has only just turned 27 and arguably still has time to improve under the right manager - though he will be desperate for regular action ahead of the World Cup.

Dan-Axel Zagadou

Dan-Axel Zagadou was released by Borussia Dortmund this summer after failing to earn a place in the starting line-up.

The Frenchman is 6ft 5 and only 23 years old - meaning he isn’t anywhere near his potential.

West Ham were already linked with a move for Zagadou as they looked to challenge Roma for his signature, however he still remains a free agent.

Djibril Sidibe

Djibril Sidibe was close to signing Nottingham Forest last week, however the 30-year-old remains without a club following deadline day.

Sidibe enjoyed a positive loan spell with Everton during the 2019/20 campaign and looked like he could make an impact in the English top flight, though remained with Monaco for the next two seasons.

The full-back was previously a regular starter in Monaco’s side and helped them to the Ligue 1 title five years ago, as well as also featuring for France as they lifted the World Cup trophy in 2018.

Marcelo

After an unbelievable career with Real Madrid, Marcelo finds himself without a club in the latter stages of his career.

The 34-year-old has won six league titles, seven domestic cups, five Champions Leagues, three Super Cups and four Club World Cups during his time with Los Blancos.

Despite his age, Marcelo is still a hugely talented player and will be hungry to continue playing football.

The Brazilian had been linked with a move to Leicester yesterday but with the deal collapsing, he will still be on the hunt for a new team.

Xeka

Xeka has already attracted interest from a number of clubs since his release from Lille, including Everton, Rennes, Porto and Wolfsburg.

The midfielder is highly experienced after spending the last five years with Lille and also made 33 appearances as they won the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21.

Xeka is still only 27 years old and could make a great free addition as a squad player.

Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley was once one of England’s most exciting young midfielders until he joined Chelsea in 2018.

The 28-year-old has since been cast out of the Blues’ first team and has only made eight league appearances for them in the last two seasons.

While he is short of first team football, Barkley’s form at Everton shows how talented he is and it could potentially work out for him much better at another club.

Barkley has been linked with a return to Goodison Park and has also attracted the interest from the likes of Rangers and Newcastle United.

Juan Mata

Juan Mata was one of the best players in the Premier League at Chelsea, but his move to Manchester United never really worked out quite as well.

While he is 34 years old, Mata would be a good player to add to a young squad to help them grow and learn from his experience and leadership.

The Spaniard only made seven appearances in the Premier League last season but could be worth a shot as an option for many clubs.
