Arsenal and Chelsea renew their rivalry on Sunday when they meet at Stamford Bridge.

The two London sides have put together differing starts to the season so far, with Arsenal sitting in a much better position after the first 12 games. The Gunners are top of the table and two points clear, winning all but two of their games and losing only once in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have already swapped Thomas Tuchel for Graham Potter, and they sit sixth, 10 points off top spot and three points off the top four, albeit they do have a game in hand over fourth-placed Newcastle United.

With Arsenal looking to protect top spot and Chelsea looking to get back on track after a crushing defeat to Brighton last weekend, this is set up to be an intriguing clash. And ahead of the game, Chelsea boss Potter has provided an injury update.

Ben Chilwell picked up an injury in the Champions League during the week, and Potter has said: “He feels okay but is obviously aware of the injury and we need to let the swelling settle down and hence the delay with the scan. We’ll know more after that. I wouldn’t say he fears the worst but we all saw the nature of the injury. I can’t say it looks positive but until we get the scan it’s difficult to say.”

In a broader update, Potter added: “Kovacic trained today so he’ll be in contention. Carney (Chukweuemeka) still has a slight issue with his hamstring that we’re getting to the bottom of.” Chelsea will also be without Kepa Arrizabalaga, N’Golo Kante, Wesley Fofana and Reece James for this one.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has said: “They are at different stages obviously. Mo (Elneny) had a long-term injury but he has recovered now in a really good way and has been training with the team for a week or two now. Alex (Runarsson) is just very recent and he’s had two training sessions. Bukayo (Saka) just missed one or two sessions and was fine today.”

Arsenal will be without Emile Smith Rowe, Takehiro Timiyasu and Matt Turner.
