Arsenal should be in good company after winning their first three games of the season, but that is not the case.

The gunners have been excellent in their first three games, winning all three to take a 100% record into their clash with Fulham this weekend.

It was the start Mikel Arteta will have dreamed of after spending more than £100million to improve his squad this summer.

With such spending comes much expectation, but Arsenal are living up to that expectation so far, albeit they are yet to face one of the usual top six.

Still, as the saying goes, you can only beat what is in front of you, and Arsenal have done just yet, beating Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Bournemouth.

Crucially, the Gunners are playing some really nice stuff, and some are already backing them for a title bid, just months after they blew a top four bid.

Three wins from three will cause that kind of excitement, but it’s not quite that straightforward.

We have taken a look at the last 10 Premier League seasons to see if any of the teams to win their first three games went on to win the Premier League table.

Interestingly, only three of the teams to win their first three games in the last 10 seasons went on to take the ultimate prize.

Tottenham made a quick start last season but Manchester City won the title, just like the previous season when Leicester, Everton and Liverpool all won their first three games.

Liverpool also won their first three games in the previous two seasons, but only once did they end up with gold.

In the 2017/18 season, Manchester United made a quick start but ultimately tailed off, while they were also one of three teams to win their first three games the previous season.

On that occasion, City and Chelsea also won their first three, and the latter did end up winning the title.

City won their first three games in the 2015/16 season, but Leicester went on to win the league.

The previous season, Chelsea and Swansea City won their first three, and the Blues did go on to take the big prize.

Chelsea also won their first three two seasons previous, but fell short to United in the Red Devils’ last title win.

In the season between, no team managed to win their first three games - and that’s the only time that has happened across the last decade.

Of course, this does not serve to write off Arsenal’s chances, and they would certainly prefer to win their first three than otherwise.

But history teaches to err on the side of caution, with only 30% of teams with a perfect record after three games winning the Premier League titles from the last 10 years.
