The Gunners are yet to make a signing this month and fans will be hoping for a busy transfer deadline day as they look to bolster their squad depth.

Arsenal are currently unsuccessful in their search for a striker and have now turned their attentions to their defensive targets.

According to The Northern Echo, both Arsenal and Tottenham are preparing bids for Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence.

The right-back is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest and his superb form has attracted interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

Spence impressed Mikel Arteta with his performance against the London club in the FA Cup earlier this month.

Given that the 21-year-old has already played for both Forest and Boro this season, he would not be able to feature for a third club during the current campaign.

However, this clearly hasn’t put off Arsenal and Spurs as they prepare to lock horns on deadline day.

While Middlesbrough will be keen to hold onto their star once he returns from his loan in the summer, Chris Wilder’s side would reportedly consider a bid of around £12-15 million for the player.

If Spence made a permanent switch to Arsenal before tonight’s deadline then he would be allowed to continue his loan spell at the City Ground until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Spurs are eyeing a move for Spence after they failed to land Adama Traore, with Antonio Conte keen to increase his options at wing-back.

Elsewhere, the Gunners are thought to be still pursuing a deadline day move for Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.
