The Premier League has been put on ice while the international break plays out and Arsenal sit just one point behind leaders Liverpool, eager to return and jump back into this season’s title challenge.

Chelsea are also pushing to close in on those at the top of the tree, currently fourth in the table with 14 points, ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference. Fulham have also been a tricky opponent to face while Tottenham Hotspur hope they can climb the table and produce more results like their 3-0 win over Manchester United.

WhoScored? has named its Team of the Season so far, using the Premier League’s highest rated players at this point in the campaign. Let’s take a look at who has made the cut below.

GK: David Raya (Arsenal)

Arsenal have the second lowest amount of goals conceded in the Premier League this season with six, level with Nottingham Forest and behind only Liverpool. David Raya has made 25 saves so far and put in standout performances against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. The Arsenal shot-stopper made nine saves in their 2-2 draw against City.

Rating: 7.3

RB: Pedro Porro (Spurs)

Pedro Porro has been a key part of this Tottenham Hotspur team and has put in consistent shifts in their defence. He also scored an important goal against Leicester City in their opening game to secure a point to get them off the mark.

Rating: 7.2

CB: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

Liverpool’s defence has proven to be the toughest to crack in the Premier League so far, with just two goals past their backline. Virgil van Dijk continues to be a commanding presence for the Reds and with five clean sheets on the board, he’ll be eager to keep this momentum going.

CB: Ibrahima Konaté (Liverpool)

Similar to his teammate, Ibrahima Konaté has been solid at the back for Liverpool as they hope to keep their defensive toughness when the Premier League returns and they face Chelsea and Arsenal back-to-back.

Rating: 7.2

LB: Antonee Robinson (Fulham)

Fulham are enjoying a strong start to their season and have earned some statement results, including their 3-1 win over Newcastle United. Antonee Robinson has been a key player across the Cottagers’ backline. With 25 tackles completed —the third highest in the league so far — and two assists to his name, Robinson has earned a spot in the current TOTS.

Rating: 7.2

RM: Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

Once again, Bukaya Saka is continuing to show why he is one of the highest-regarded wingers in the world right now. The Arsenal icon, who is in the top 10 highest valued players according to Transfermarkt, has contributed two goals and seven assists so far. Saka was involved in all three goals against Southampton last time out.

Rating: 8.2

CM: Cole Palmer (Chelsea)

The ever-impactful Cole Palmer continues to be a thorn in the side of most opponents who face Chelsea. After contributing 22 goals and 11 assists last season, the versatile 22-year-old is already off to a flying start. This campaign, Palmer has notched six goals and five assists so far and scored all four goals against Brighton.

CM: James Maddison (Spurs)

After struggling with injury last season, James Maddison has played a crucial role in Tottenham’s attack so far this term. With two goals and two assists from midfield, the 27-year-old is helping to pull the strings and feed his attackers while enjoying getting in front of the goal himself.

Rating: 7.6

LM: Luis Díaz (Liverpool)

Despite uncertainty over his future and links to Barcelona during the summer, Luis Díaz has returned to action and kept a key role in the team under Slot. The Colombian has immediately hit form this season, with five goals and an assist in Liverpool’s first seven matches, including a brace against Manchester United.

Rating: 7.5

CF: Erling Haaland (Man City)

Unsurprisingly, Erling Haaland has once again grabbed the Premier League by the scruff of the neck and is one of the biggest dead cert choices for FPL managers. Manchester City’s star forward is already leading the Golden Boot race with 10 goals in seven games so far.

Rating: 8.1

CF: Kai Havertz (Arsenal)

As Arsenal push again to challenge for the title, they will be relying on Kai Havertz to tuck away any goal he can. The German continues to earn praise for his transformation since leaving Chelsea and with four goals on the tally already this season, we can only expect to see more of him, especially after notching 13 goals and seven assists last campaign.
