Arsenal took big steps forward last season, improving to a fifth place finish, but the Gunners must remain on an upward trend.

Spending will be required to maintain that upward curve, and the Gunners have already made a number of additions.

But they are still working on blockbuster deals, and as the work goes on behind the scenes, we have rounded up all the latest news and rumours.

Bid rejected

Arsenal are said to have been dealt a setback in their bid to pull off a deal for Leeds United winger Raphinha.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners made a bid for the Brazilian amid cooling interest from Barcelona, but they have been unsuccessful.

The report claims the offer “fell well below Leeds’ valuation”, and so it’s back to the drawing board for now for Edu and Arteta.

Jesus boost

Arsenal are said have received a big boost in the race to sign Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus.

According to the Daily Star, the Gunners are preferred to Tottenham by Jesus as both sides reportedly chase a deal.

That will give Arsenal some real momemtum as they look to pull off a deal, as they remain locked in negotiations with City.

Ruiz update

Arsenal are said to be one of the clubs leading the chase to land Napoli star Fabian Ruiz.

The midfielder is out of contract in 2023, and with no new contract in sight, Napoli will likely have to sell for a cut-price deal this summer.

Corriere dello Sport, via the Daily Mail, are claiming the Gunners, as well as Newcastle United, are leading to race to pull off the transfer of Ruiz.
