Arsenal and Liverpool are both reportedly keen on signing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo

Arsenal have identified Brentford winger Bryan Mbuemo as a potential transfer target, according to reports. He has been tipped as an ideal candidate to take some heat off Bukayo Saka, who faced injury worries recently. The Bees are now said to have set a price for the Cameroonian.

Furthermore, Arsenal aren’t the only title contender said to be keen on landing the winger, with Liverpool also thought to be keeping tabs on the star. They are said to view Mbuemo as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement, as the club legend is now in the final year of his Anfield contract.

According to Football Insider, Brentford have set a price on Mbuemo in excess of £60 million, amid the growing interest to land his signature. However, they aren’t looking to sell the 25-year-old in January, so any deal for Mbuemo would more likely come in the summer transfer window.

The Cameroon international has been excellent this season for Brentford, scoring eight goals in nine Premier League appearances and is currently the second-top scorer in the league behind Erling Haaland who has 11 goals.

Mbuemo has helped Brentford to an impressive start to the season - they sit ninth in the league after nine games and have scored 18 goals, which is the third-most in the Premier League and is largely in part down to the 25-year-old.

Arsenal looking to add attacking firepower

The Gunners have been linked to several attackers over the past few weeks, which seems to come as an attempt to find players who can take some off the heat off Saka who plays as many minutes as possible when he is fit.

The England international found himself injured in the early part of October which was a big blow for Mikel Arteta’s side, so the Arsenal boss may decide that he wants to bring in a new winger to allow Saka to rest more often.

The Gunners have recently been linked with Leroy Sane who used to play for Manchester City and is now at Bayern Munich. They have also been linked with Barcelona man Ferran Torres alongside Premier League and Champions League rivals Aston Villa.

How would Bryan Mbuemo fit into Arsenal’s team?

The Brentford man would most likely begin his career at Arsenal on the bench due to the quality that the Gunners have on the flanks in Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Arteta would likely use Mbuemo as an impact substitute which the winger would have to make the most of in order to begin starting for Arsenal. He would most likely replace Martinelli but also switch over to the right hand side when Saka would get substituted off.
