Arsenal are reportedly keen on Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson, who has been subject to transfer interest from Serie A side AC Milan after impressing in the Bundesliga this season.
The 20-year-old has made ten appearances for Frankfurt, scoring two goals and helping his side to third in the league table, just one point off RB Leipzig in second and six points off Bayern Munich at the top of the table. Larsson has been with Frankfurt for over a year now after joining from Swedish side Malmo, where he came through the academy and ended up making over 60 appearances for the senior. He has since made 54 appearances for Frankfurt, scoring five goals after moving to Germany for a fee of £7.5m in July 2023.
Larsson plays as a central midfielder but can also play in more of a defensive role as an energetic box-to-box type player. However, he is somewhat of an all-round midfielder and he’s trying to add goals to his game, and having some success too, given he’s currently on his best goal scoring season so far this year.
Arsenal is reportedly keen on adding midfield talent
The Gunners don’t have a huge amount of players in central midfield. They added Spaniard and Euro 2024 winner Mikel Merino for £27.4m from Real Sociedad. He has so far made five Premier League appearances, scoring one goal which came in the Gunners’ 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

If they were to add a new name in the centre of the park such as Larsson, he wouldn’t only be an exciting prospect for the future but also could add much-needed depth to the team.
Contacting Larsson’s Swedish teammate over a move to the Emirates
Larsson plays in the Sweden national team alongside star striker Viktor Gyokeres who is currently at Sporting CP, the team whom Ruben Amorim left to join Manchester United this week.
TeamTalk’s sources state that Arsenal have contacted Larsson’s representatives, who also represent Gyokeres, over a possible move for the striker to come to the Emirates. The Gunners were linked to the Sporting CP man in the summer and could make a move yet again after Gyokeres’ hot start to the season, scoring 16 goals in 11 league games.
