The Gunners deservedly lost to Brighton who had come into the game at the Emirates having failed to win their last seven games.

But goals from Leandro Trossard and Enock Mwepu gave the Seagulls a solid two goal lead before Martin Odegaard fired home to reduce the deficit and his side a fighting chance late on.

The form of club captain  Alexandre Lacazette again dominated discussions with the French forward now gone almost 16 hours without scoring from open play in all competitions.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright predicted that the Gunners would be in trouble if teams worked out how to stop their runs from deep as they did not have enough goals coming from midfield and attack.

And his prediction looks to be hunting his former side with Lacazette’s  worrying form in-front of goal a real cause for concern.

But his manager says goal scoring is a responsibility of the entire team and it’s up to the team to share the responsibility.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: “ We need to score more goals and I’m not happy when we lose but scoring goals is a collective responsibility and not just on one player.”

Mikel Arteta now has a real big decision to make when it comes to finding goals as his lead striker hasn’t scored from open play since December and injuries to Thomas Partey and Kieran Tienyt look to have weakened the squad.

The fact that he is playing Xhaka at left back is also up in the air as the Gunners missed his passing and legs in the middle against Brighton.
