And according to Il Mattino, Arsenal are willing to pay as much as £90million to beat their rivals to the signing of the frontman.

The Gunners are understood to be pursuing a deal for another striker in Gabriel Jesus.

The Manchester City star is expected to move on amid the expected arrival of Erling Haaland, and Arsenal are already said to have submitted an opening bid.

Goal have reported Arsenal have submitted a bid of around £42million, but City are looking for much closer to £50million.

Another forward Arsenal have been linked with is Darwin Nunez, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has detailed how much the Benfica frontman will cost.

He told the Wodergoal Podcast: “I’m really curious to see what happens with Darwin Nunez because I see him leaving Benfica this summer.

“I’m sure. It will depend on the price because, for example, in January on deadline day, West Ham made a proposal of €45million (£38.5million) and it was turned down because Benfica wanted €55million (£47.1million).

“Now I think with €55million (£47.1million), you are absolutely not buying him. So, what is needed is around €75million -€80million (£64.2million-£68.5million) for Darwin Nunez, to open negotiations with Benfica.”
