Arsenal are reportedly keen on Southampton youngster Jimmy-Jay Morgan. The teenager is a man in-demand among Premier League clubs this winter.

According to Sky Sports (live transfer blog, 24.01.23, 12.52), the Gunners are ‘assessing’ whether to snap him up with the player said to be eyeing an exit from St Mary’s. Mikel Arteta’s side aren’t the only club being mentioned though, with Manchester City and Leeds United also believed to be in the frame.

Arsenal could see Morgan as a decent long-term option and someone who would bolster their youth ranks. The London club have been flying high at the top of the table this term but will be keeping one eye on the future with their recruitment.

Morgan, 17, has risen up through the academy ranks at Southampton but is stalling over penning his first professional contract with Nathan Jones’ side at the moment as he weighs up his options. The England youth international is being tipped for a bright future in the game and has been on the bench for the first-team on a few occasions in this campaign.

The Saints are facing a battle to keep him amid interest from elsewhere. They are currently bottom of the table.

In other Arsenal news, they are in ‘pole position’ to sign Real Vallodolid right-back Ivan Fresneda according to Football Insider. Borussia Dortmund have also been keen on him.
