Arsenal will face Bayern Munich in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash this week. It is the first time since 2010/11 that the Gunners have reached this stage of the competition and as fate would have it, they come up against a side to whom they are no stranger in Europe’s top-tiered tournament.

The clash also sees ex-Tottenham striker and England captain Harry Kane return to face a familiar opposition while 28-year-old Serge Gnabry is set for an Emirates reunion with Mikel Arteta after playing alongside the then Arsenal captain when joined the club as a 16-year-old in 2012.

Contrary to their predicament at this stage in the season last year, Arsenal have very few injuries to concern themselves with. Jurrien Timber remains the only long-term absentee as he continues to recover from his ACL surgery and a potential return date this season seems unlikely.

Bukayo Saka recently missed the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Luton but returned to the starting XI as his side travelled to face Brighton at the Amex Stadium. Despite suffering from muscular issues during the week, the English international was back on form and put his club 1-0 up after scoring from the penalty spot. The only other concern at present remains Gabriel. The Brazilian international went down after Danny Welbeck followed through when trying to block a clearance. He was, however, able to complete the full 90 minutes of action.

As for Bayern Munich, they have suffered from a much depleted in recent weeks but Thomas Tuchel’s side are set to enjoy the return of several stars, including veteran Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and French winger Kingsley Coman. Neuer, Coman, Noussair Mazraoui, Leroy Sane and Aleksandar Pavlovic all missed Bayern’s 3-2 defeat to Heidenheim on Saturday but have all returned to the squad and are set to make the trip to North London ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

Sven Ulreich has deputised in goal for Neuer for the past two fixtures and with the 38-year-old recently suffering from tearing a muscle in his left adductor, it is not yet known whether Ulreich will continue to man the goal when Tuchel’s squad take to the field on Tuesday.
