The Telegraph have reported midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga is in talks over a season-long loan move for Premier League newcomers Burnley.

If the move is completed, the Belgian international would be reunited with former manager Vincent Kompany after he worked under the Manchester City legend during his time at Anderlecht. Lokonga fell out of favour at Arsenal last season before spending the second half of the season with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and the arrival of club record signing Declan Rice has further hampered his chances to finding a regular spot in Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

United States international Trusty is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Gunners after moving to North London from MLS club Colorado Rapids last year but did go on to make 48 appearances for Championship club Birmingham City during a successful loan spell last season.

Second tier interest has come from the likes of Ipswich Town and Swansea City after they registered an interest in Trusty - but Premier League newcomers Sheffield United are also said to be keen on the defender.

The former England youth international has been a regular in Gunners academy sides over the last few years and was an unused substitute when he earned a maiden senior call-up for a 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers in October last year. However, he has now confirmed his time with his boyhood club has come to an end and revealed he is ‘excited about the journey ahead’ amid speculation he is closing in on a move to Championship club Southampton.

Speaking via his Instagram account, he said: “My time at Arsenal has come to an end.

“I would like to thank the players and staff that have supported me throughout my journey at Arsenal. During my 10 years at the club I have learnt so much about myself as a player and a person. However, I feel that it is my time to move on and I am excited about the journey ahead.”

There is an expectation Awe will officially join the Championship newcomers over the next week and that will mean the Gunners will receive some compensation after developing the youngster through their academy.
