The Championship season gets underway next week with a number of clubs vying for promotion

The 2023-24 Championship campaign gets underway next week as Sheffield Wednesday host Southampton at Hillsborough on Friday, August 4.

Watford and QPR face off a day later while Millwall face a tough test at Middlesbrough. Millwall missed out on a play-off place last season after a dramatic final-day defeat to Blackburn Rovers. The Hornets finished 11th while QPR avoided relegation with a 20th-placed finish.

Leeds United, Southampton and Leicester City are among the favourites to be promoted following the trio’s relegation from the Premier League while Wednesday, Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town will be hoping to establish themselves as Championship clubs after earning promotion from League One.
