Arsenal continue their pursuit of new first team options this summer, having already splashed a handsome amount of cash on marquee signings Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and of course the long-awaited Declan Rice.

Initially, it was reported that the Gunners wanted to offload some players before re-entering transfer talks in order to balance out the books. However, new links continue to connect themselves to the Premier League giants and one of the latest comes in the form of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Djibril Sow.

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal have emerged onto the scene to potentially hijack Lazio’s talks with the midfielder. The Italians have reportedly already agreed a deal worth €15 million (£13m) plus bonuses for Sow but Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘aggressively trying to enter the negotiation.’

The midfield man, who can operate in the central position or more defensively, contributed four goals in the Bundesliga last season.

Lazio remain firm on ensuring the Switzerland international signs for them this summer and club president Claudio Lotito is due to meet with Maurizio Sarri to discuss proceedings. The report does not indicate whether Arsenal would be ready to offer more money than the Serie A side but based on their big spending so far, it doesn’t seem like an unreasonable amount.

Plus, the Gunners could be about to receive some much-needed funds as Football Insider report that they are ready to cash in on six senior players. Kieran Tierney, Folarin Balogun, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Rob Holding, Nuno Tavares and Matt Turner have all been placed on the outgoings list after Arteta admitted his squad is too heavy right now.

The club are currently listening to offer for all six players in question, with back-up goalkeeper Turner already in talks over a move to Nottingham Forest before the new season starts.
