Arsenal and Brentford £50m transfer alert after blockbuster Mo Salah Liverpool comments
Liverpool have been sent a rocket by Mohammed Salah, which could accelerate transfer links with a Brentford forward.
Arsenal and Brentford may be paying special attention to the future of winger Bryan Mbeumo this week after Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah gave a blockbuster update on his future at Anfield.
The Egypt international is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season and admitted he was 'disappointed' by negotiations with the club after the 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday. Salah scored twice in that match as Arne Slot's side came back from a 2-1 deficit.
The forward has been with Liverpool since 2017 and has become a club legend, but was subject to high profile interest from Saudi Arabia in 2023 with a £150 million bid sent to Liverpool from Al Ittihad. Speaking at the weekend, the player said: "We are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club. I'm probably more out than in."
Asked if he was disappointed with progress, Salah said: "Of course, yeah. I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I'm disappointed but we will see."

Given the contract situation, the potential need for Liverpool to replace Salah has been no secret. Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo has been touted as the first choice option to do that throughout 2024 and his form this season has fuelled those rumours.
Liverpool were linked with a move for the player as early as February this year and earlier this month Liverpool.com reported that the Merseyside club has 'set its sights' on completing a transfer for the 25-year-old amid reports of interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United in the player's services too.
METRO, who also reported Arsenal interest, added that Brentford are all too well aware of transfer interest and have slapped a £50 million price tag on Mbeumo, who still has a season and a half left to run on his current deal at the Gtech Community Stadium. That fee would represent a huge profit for Brentford, who paid £6 million to sign the player from Troyes in 2019, but Thomas Frank would no doubt rather keep the goalscorer having already lost Ivan Toney in the summer.
