Brentford and Arsenal have two reasons not to fear escalating £50m Liverpool transfer rumours

Liverpool continue to be linked with transfer interest in Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo with rumours of an imminent swoop from Arne Slot's side appearing to grow stronger and stronger.
The Bees man has plundered eight top flight goals already this season, a statistic only bettered by Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland. That prolific run of form has led to inevitable transfer links with some of the division's top clubs.

Liverpool.com now reports that the Merseyside club has 'set its sights' on completing a transfer for the 25-year-old amid reports of interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United in the player's services too.

METRO this week reported that Brentford are all too well aware of transfer interest and have slapped a £50 million price tag on Mbeumo, who still has a season and a half left to run on his current deal at the Gtech Community Stadium. That fee would represent a huge profit for Brentford, who paid £6 million to sign the player from Troyes in 2019, but Thomas Frank would no doubt rather keep the goalscorer having already lost Ivan Toney in the summer.
Liverpool looking at Mbeumo alternative
His hopes of doing so are boosted by Sky Sports with news that the Reds are also looking at another recruitment option. Slot is said to be a fan of AFC Bournemouth man Antoine Semenyo.
It is reported that the 24-year-old has already been scouted by Liverpool this season and that the player is already well-known to sporting director Richard Hughes, who signed him for Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023, which could make a transfer easy to pull off.

Should a move for Semenyo happen, that would surely rule Liverpool out of the Mbeumo transfer race, in a boost for both Brentford's hopes of keeping their star man and Arsenal's desire to beat Liverpool for a deal.
There is, of course, the chance that Mohammed Salah signs a contract extension at Liverpool as well, which would lessen the immediate need of a replacement for Slot. The Egyptian is known to have admirers in Saudi Arabia, with the Reds having rejected a £150 million bid from Al Ittihad last year.
Jamie Carragher on Mohammed Salah contract
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has already given his opinion on the player's future at Anfield, adding his belief that Salah will sign a new deal. He told Sky Sports last month: “He’ll have an eye on Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard by the end of this season, I would imagine.
“I think stats like this are one of the biggest reasons why Mo Salah will sign a new contract at Liverpool. Of course they’ll be talking about money and length of contract, but I think these are the things that really get the juices flowing for Mo Salah.
“He breaks all the records at Liverpool, but getting as far as he can up those lists, I think that’s a big part of his focus as a player.”
