Arsenal are eyeing a move for Barcelona's Ferran Torres in January, according to Fichajes. This will be the second time Mikel Arteta has looked to bring the forward to the Emirates Stadium.

Torres joined Manchester City from Valencia in 2020 but failed to make the desired impact among a number of star attackers, scoring 15 goals in all competitions. After the Spaniard only managed a handful of appearances in the first half of the 2021/22 campaign, he was snapped up by Barcelona in the January transfer window and handed a buyout clause of €1 billion.

After previously trying to sign Torres before his move to Spain, Arteta will now look to bring him back to the Premier League after it was confirmed that Gabriel Jesus would be sidelined for a number of months following an injury he picked up in the World Cup. The forward has only made six starts in La Liga this season and Barcelona are reportedly open to selling him just 12 months after they paid almost £50m for his services.

The Arsenal boss will be confident of bringing out the best in his fellow Spaniard as the Gunners look to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table, however they would face competition for Torres’ signature. The report claims that a number of European clubs are interested in the 22-year-old, with AC Milan and Arsenal also keen on the transfer.

Torres is one of a number of forwards that the Gunners have been linked with following Jesus’ injury and reports have claimed they are also interested in the likes of Joao Felix, Cody Gakpo and Goncalo Ramos. The north London club are set to be without Jesus for around three months.
