Arsenal have reached an agreement over the free transfer of Evan Ndicka, according to Il Romanista. The centre-back could join the club next summer.

Ndicka has been an ever present figure in Frankfurt’s defence since joining the club four years ago and has made 15 appearances in Germany this season as they sit in fourth place in the table. The Frenchman has been a key part of the Bundesliga squad but looks set to leave the club in the near future.

Ndicka’s contract is set to expire next summer and the report claims that Frankfurt have so far failed in their attempts to get him to sign a new contract. The Germans could look to offload the defender for around €15m in January if he doesn’t put pen to paper, however it is reported that Arsenal have already reached an agreement to sign him for free next summer.

The 23-year-old could be an absolute bargain signing for the Gunners given his age and potential, while he would also add some much needed squad depth to their ranks. Gabriel and William Saliba have established themselves as their centre-back pairing, however Ben White’s brilliant form at full-back means Mikel Arteta’s only solid back-up option is Rob Holding. Ndicka is also left-footed so could be a great squad player for the Spaniard to choose from.

A free transfer arrival for Ndicka seems like a low-risk move for Arsenal, however we could certainly see a number of other clubs try to tempt the defender away from Frankfurt.
